every minute of summer

Have I told anyone lately that I hate my job? I do not enjoy it anymore.... Dopey and Grumpy are constantly encouraging me to hand in my resignation. Which is fine, but who is going to feed my soul with expensive clothes... nice shoes? Expensive make up? Girlie things which Grumpy can never understand.

One thing is for sure, one of my NY's resolution was to be daring enough to quit. Bleaghh - did not happen, or shall I say... has not happened yet. Another one was to work overseas - did not work out either. Because I turned down an offer to work in Europe for a year.. all in the name of love. hehehehe Sad but true.

But lets not dwell on the negative. Lets begin the week on a more positive vibe.
I have been loving every minute of summer.

I love the beach. I have been going bodyboarding which is so much fun.

On a separate occasion, Grumpy & I took the dog to the beach. He had his first swimming attempt. I am so proud of him despite the fact that he chucks a bitch fit everytime I make him swim.

This is him with some new friends. It is a beach catered specifically for dogs. Isn't it wonderful?

That is me on the left - coaxing him to swim because he was too scared to do anything when the water levels were reaching his neck. My poor baby.

Some things money cannot buy.

Especially this one. He looks absolutely traumatised here.

And then he wouldn't leave my side. Which is why I wouldn't leave his.

Ispokereallyreallyfastatthestart

Last week, I was again... working in my one person team... juggling the never-ending-always-occuring problems and issues. At 12 noon before I was heading out to lunch, 'The Absolute Retard I Report To' comes over and says she has a quick question. She says "You know how Mr CEO is here... they want you to do a presentation for him... Mr Director wants you to do it... Mr Wanker did a presentation for Mr MD before.. but Mr Wanker is actually away today... so they want you to present to Mr CEO" She adds "Yea.. so can you please prepare something for us at 1.30pm - to go thru what you plan to present? You will present to Mr CEO at 4pm"

WTF.

I freaked out. But reassured myself it was OK.

I hate how she worded it that just because Mr Wanker is away today, I was the Plan B. She sorta emphasized how it was such a bummer he was not at work because otherwise, they would've asked him instead of me. But whatever. She thinks of me as a threat - what she doesn't realise is that I don't even want her crappy job.

So finally at 4pm, I had the CEO next to me. And another 3 bosses... and 'The Absolute Retard I Report To' standing behind me - to make sure I didn't say something stupid.... something like.... you know how this system we are operating at the moment is world class, popular and famous, none of my direct bosses even know how to use it.

I started off nervous. Sydney boy (who flew down for the day) was keeping an eye on me the entire time. Apparently Ispokereallyreallyfastatthestart. But after a few mins, I calmed down and he said it went really well.

not so rosy..

Things have not been so rosy at work. I am constantly under a lot of pressure and am so stressed out. Morale has been pretty low, and to make matters worst, I now report to a new assistant manager who is an absolute retard. She is a dumb bitch and has the face of a cow and a body of an elephant. The many issues and problems that arise at work are concurrent and there is no end to it.

Last night, in bed, all I can think of is... OK, I have to send that email.. I have to ring that person, I have to do an analysis on why the sky is blue... why didn't I say this to that person? I need to ask that team to submit a report in 5 freaking business days.. blah blah blah blah blah... and then the next thing I knew, it was the crack of dawn, and I have had NO sleep. None at all. I was having some sort of panic attack, and was too exhausted to go to work.

I called in sick, well bad luck.

I tried to be a nice person, so I drove Grumpy to the train station this morning. I received a text message from a friend saying "hey heath ledger is dead", I was shocked, didn't pay attention to my driving and nearly hit another car. OMG. Grumpy was quick to act (my hero) as he swerved the wheel to avoid the other car! That was close! But he was furious at me. I was nearly in tears. Shocked too. But it was OK. At least nothing happened... but still?! Heath Ledger dead?!

I made my way to the doctors just now, just to check my blood pressure.. hehe and to request for a medical certificate - just in case that stupid cow at work asks me for one. The other doctors were fully booked, so I ended up with a bloody rude doctor... NIGHTMARE - she looks like she just stepped out the set of Monsters Inc.

Could my day get any worse?

disco dog

Have you seen my disco dog?

Isn't this picture a classic? I love how I was able to capture this with his tongue out. My dog's such a superstar.

And wait, it gets better.

That's him dancing to Kylie.. because my dog loves disco.

And when he's had WAY too much,

I was trying to get hold of this disco vodka for ages. Finally I was able to score the last 2 bottles. One for me, one for Sydney boy.

It is quite cool. You can take the shell out from the bottle, hang it on the ceiling, and start a dancefloor. hell yeah..

torn

Decisions decisions..

I'm quite bad at negotiating my job offers.

Two years ago, I found myself torn between 2 job offers. Choosing the job wasn't the hard part. But rather, discussing my options - 'What's in it for ME?!', negotiating the pay - also, I find difficult to do. And most importantly - trying NOT to to burn any bridges (this is the hardest part, especially when they are internal roles). If there's one thing I learnt, if you're still not quite sure, they think you are indecisive and not focused. Its like them saying "You don't even know what you want to do!" buh-loody-hell!

Now, I find myself in a very similar situation. Only - I'm going to be more careful this time. Or at least I'll try to be. I still have not done anything... omg. I can never make up my mind. But I won't let either one GET to me.

Goodbye 2007!

I thought I'd end the year of 2007 with this Farside farewell message which a friend sent to me.
Ok, I'm heading out now. Its 11pm and currently 35.1 degrees Celcius. OMG.
Happy New Year! May the new year be filled with success, love, peace, joy & happiness!

oh what a year!

This year has been an eventful year for me.
  • Worked in a massive project - all the blood, sweat and tears... OMG. Long hours, late nights, weekends, yet the new friends I've made, new swear words I've learnt in French, and experience was absolutely worth it.
  • Bought my first home - endless inspections, auctions, real estate agents, banks, contracts, a life time mortgage. Yet being able to stick a nail on the wall without having to worry about breaching a term on the lease agreement - is absolutely worth it.
  • Painted a wall - although, I've lost a bet with Grumpy as it is still work in progress.
  • Quit smoking. A disgusting habit that I was never proud of. I did it! I haven't had a cigarette for 5 weeks now.
  • Got into a car accident - wasn't my fault
  • Pour heaps of bottles of expensive champagne, wine, spirits and beer down the sink in a fight with Grumpy. Damn it felt really good!
  • Mum came to Melbourne 3 times this year - each trip she's here, I barely spend much time with her due to work commitments. This has got to change.
  • My grandfather came to Melbourne twice this year - He is an amazing person. Such a pleasure to be with.
  • Grumpy's dad and brother came to Melbourne this year - It was nice to see Grumpy 'not so grumpy'..
  • Lost a close family member - my aunt. Also, seeing my best friend lose her father to cancer.

Next year, I hope to...

  • Travel overseas. Or even, work overseas and put those swear words I learnt to good use.
  • Really enjoy my work. If not, be daring enough to quit and just bum at home.
  • Finish painting my bathroom wall.
  • Continue to stay away from cigarettes.
  • Exercise!
  • Take my dog out to the park more often.
  • Wash my car. Or get Grumpy to do it. It is filthy.
  • Learn to cook, or at least, help Grumpy out in the kitchen.
  • Spend more time with Mum and Dad.
  • Be nicer to Mum and Dad. And Grumpy. And Dopey. I must admit, I can be a bit of a bitch at times.
  • Be nicer to Grumpy. Tolerance, compromise, patience > key attributes I have to work on.
  • Spend more time with Mum and Dad.

Fingers crossed.
